The Open Book Test Podcast with Alison Levey

Brittany Sanok: Plot Twist - she didn't major in business!

Season 1 Episode 9

Brittany Sanok graduated from Notre Dame in 2016 with majors in English and Economics — so what is she doing on a business focused podcast?  Turns out, students from all majors end up working in, wait for it, businesses. She just took one of the many and varied paths into a career, with Huron Consulting in her case. Brittany actually started as a business major, but made a shift sophomore year when the curriculum didn’t really speak to her. A bit of exposure gave her a few valuable skills and, most importantly, the confidence to suit up and attend the career fair and the many info sessions offered throughout the year. I particularly love her takes on teamwork and listening.  True collaboration can be a real gamechanger  as you move through college and into a career.

Brittany's recommendations:
When Breath Becomes Air by Dr. Paul Kalanithi - a moving memoir with so many great reflections on what it means to live a good life
