The Open Book Test Podcast with Alison Levey

Matt Lynch: The ABC's of Success (Accounting, Basketball & Communication)

Season 1 Episode 7

Matt majored in accounting in the classroom but got an education from Bookstore Basketball, and sports in general, from the sidelines. He spent five years at ND, graduating with a Masters of Science in Accountancy (MSA) in 2014, before joining Deloitte’s Audit team full-time in his hometown of St. Louis. So yes, he went from Mendoza to Deloitte, one of the Big 4 Accounting firms, which is a fairly common path for an Accounting major but, as he explains, the experience doesn’t have to be common - there’s lots of room for growth, variety, and new challenges. He says that accounting just always made sense to him and he was drawn to the flexibility, the stability and, ultimately, the people who have made it such a rewarding career.
